Things You Should Know About PACE

  • PACE participants receive all of their health care from Northland PACE, except for emergency services.
  • Because PACE provides and is responsible for all of your care, you will be held financially responsible for any care services, with the exception of emergency medical care, you receive outside the program (from "non-network" providers) that are not approved in advance by the PACE program.
  • Northland PACE offers Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. If you are in a PACE program, you don’t need to join a separate Medicare Part D plan. If you enroll in another Medicare Part D program, you will be disenrolled from PACE because you can be in only one program at a time.
  • If you do not qualify for Medicaid due to personal assets exceeding Medicaid allowances, you will have to "spend down" in order to qualify and have your PACE covered by Medicaid. This may require your paying for the Medicaid portion from your own assets until such time as you qualify. More information on Medicaid can be obtained through your local County Social Services agency.  Our social workers or Intake Coordinator may be able to assist you with making contacts at Social Services and obtaining the correct application forms.
